Si₃N₄ is a core raw material for preparing various silicon nitride-based materials. Its applications are mainly focused on the molding and processing of high-performance ceramic products, and it also has important applications in coatings, composite materials, and other fields.

The most fundamental application of Si₃N₄ is as a basic raw material for preparing silicon nitride structural ceramics.Dense silicon nitride ceramic components can be manufactured by mixing silicon nitride powder with sintering aids and then molding and sintering at high temperatures through processes such as hot pressing sintering, reaction sintering, and gas pressure sintering. Examples include high-temperature resistant components such as engine turbine blades, piston tops, and combustion chambers, as well as wear-resistant mechanical parts such as ceramic bearings, balls, and sealing rings.

- Outstanding chemical stability: The powder itself is resistant to strong acids and alkalis and high-temperature oxidation. It is not easily deteriorated during storage and pretreatment. The materials made from it can withstand the erosion of metallurgical melts and chemical corrosive media.

- Compared to directly processing dense silicon nitride ceramics, the large-scale preparation cost of powder raw materials is lower.
